"Skin City, located in San Francisco, California, has been in business for
almost 15 years. We have always had a part time receptionist, but with the economy
declining, we unfortunately had to lay her off. We are an appointment only based
business, which created many phone calls to be answered and/or returned. We also
confirm appointments the day before as a courtesy to our clients to avoid missed
appointments. Confirming clients could take up to 30 minutes alone. Not fun!!

"At Hair Co. we used to have an appointment book on the desk and a cabinet
in the back of the shop to store the old ones. If we needed to find the last time
a client had a color or a cut we would send someone to the file and they would manually
flip pages to find the info. Sometimes it could take up to 15-20 minutes.
Now with the terminal on the desk, we go to Salon Iris and look up, last visits,
services and purchases in seconds, saving valuable time to service clients. Client
Service "Totals" are calculated at the time of the booking allowing clients
cost expectations in advance.
Salon Iris also keeps track of our time clock and tips for our staff. At the end
of the week we just run the "Employee Worked Based on Time Clock Entrees"
or "Tips Claimed" report, and in seconds we have all the Correct and Accurate

price increase we would have to remark every product. Now we just use the barcode

Gift certificates were always a problem. We had to get them from the file, and hand
write them, and then log them on a list in the file. Salon Iris gift cards allows
Hair Co. to give a professional custom printed photo of our salon, with phone, address
and web site on the front and a barcode on the back to track the card in Salon
Iris leaving no errors.
The biggest impact that Salon Iris has had on Hair Co. is the web site with online
booking. The web site can be setup very easily; you do not have to be a computer
person. It allows our salon access to the world. We find that a lot of existing
and new clients will check our web site www.hair-co.com for appointment openings,
services costs, and book online. This saves them and Hair Co. time.

"First, can I say that I really love this software program, Salon Iris. I had
been using many different software programs at salons I worked in over the years,
so I was always interested in learning how to use them even if it wasn't in my job
description. I also worked with other programs while they were being designed specifically
for a salon I worked in, usually to my disappointment, they didn't function well
for salon use. It is such a specific business and needs to accommodate different

Salon Iris helps me be more organized; I can keep track of many different things

I also like being able to run all payments through Salon Iris's Payment Systems;,
everything is extremely compact. I have a small space and it looks great. All transactions
are easy to look up and that makes my job easier. It even allows me to sync up my
home computer and Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) as well, so I am able to book
appointments when I am not at the salon. This feature is incredible because I am
on the road a lot, for long distances, and I worry that I won't be able to contact
clients if something comes up. Also, if I did have trouble with the computer at
the salon, all the client info, history and formulas are there on my PDA. Having
all client info, past appointments and formulations at my fingertips helps me be
thorough with a client. If they are curious about price or previous service, or
if they just loved or didn't like the product purchased, I can refer immediately
to them and look at our notes on what recent services they had or what they purchased.
Lastly, the technical support team is fantastic! They are very knowledgeable about
their product and extremely helpful to work with on any issue I may have. I was
concerned about not having in-house support, but with Salon Iris, I have no worries.

"Where do I begin, having Salon Iris in our salon has been unbelievable. Marilyn's
Designers Den has been in business for over 40 years. Our salon has such a variety
of women. 3 women have been stylists for over 40 years. 3 women have been stylists
for 20 years and 1 has been a stylist for about 5. When we began with the computer
system (Salon Iris), I was able to do an in salon training for the staff about Salon
Iris just by having had the trial version on my home computer and playing around
with it. Remember, I have such a diverse age difference in my salon that some had

When we began, and I had the stylists set a goal for when we would get rid of the
infamous scheduling book. The throw away date was 1 month. We eliminated the book

retail and remembering to tally all that was sold was so time consuming. How many
remembered what they sold? The amount of dollars lost in non-paid retail was mind

In 2005 Salon Iris availed me the freedom to move to an updated, 21st Century paperless
business called, Crossroads Salon and Day Spa, which I successfully sold in 2007.

Iris Program...it has helped us with business tremendously. We are a salon that
does hair only, but it works efficiently with our commission and booth renter stylists.
I worked with computers teaching newly installed programs years ago so I am computer
literate. This program is very easy to comprehend, gives you daily tips for operation,
consistent on updates and the help topics and online support gets an A+!! We do

appointment book. We used to have the pen & paper style appointment book and
5 different handwriting styles was making it hard to read some of the client's names
and services that they requested. Plus, let's not talk about cancellations and re-booking

messages which put more time back into booking services because before at least
